Diana John was used as a Pilgrim during our 2023 Level Up Youth Camp.

Earth was blessed on September 3^rd 1952 when Diana John was born. Her upbringing was guided by stern and structured principles which accounted for her disciplinary life style.

Diana was one of the pioneering students of St. Rose Modern Secondary School where her favorite subjects were Mathematics and Spanish. Upon completion of high school, while waiting on a job, Diana pursued Typing became a successful typist passing all the exams from elementary typing to advance typing. She often boasted about her speed in words per minute. She worked long and hard at whatever she put her mind to do. Her motto was “ A winner never quits, and a quitter never wins.” She remained focused until she accomplished her goals. Giving up was not an option. She often quoted the word “FAIL” to mean, First Attempt In Learning. Upon completion of her typing course, she opened up “The St. Mark’s Secretarial Academy” and generated many proficient secretaries. She was hired as a secretary at St. John’s Christian Secondary School and was later promoted to a teacher’s position. She worked there faithfully, tirelessly and diligently until she retired.

Diana gave her life to the Lord shortly after the Victoria Fire Baptized Holiness Church was established. Her  favorite song was “When He Reached Down”. She loved to sing in two part harmony.

Diana served her community in more ways than one. She was an organizer and a planner. She enjoyed raising funds for the church. She ran several Su Su, simply because she wanted to teach people how to save. She was a teacher of typing skills, Counselor, Chastiser, Encourager and Provider. She encouraged the children in the community to go to school and learn well. She often referred them to the song sung by the ‘Mighty Sparrow’ and told the kids if they did not learn well, later on in life, they will catch real hell. Her motto for education was “education is the key to success.” Diana enjoyed helping others. It did not matter what the need was. Bus money or lunch to the school children and in the community, whether it was a pinch of salt or a cup of hot water, no need was too small or too great. She made what seemed impossible, possible. The legacy she left behind is to “Reach out and touch somebody’s hand, make this world a better place if you can”.

Diana fought a good fight, she kept the faith, and was heaven sent on August 16^th 2018. Her five year anniversary is around the corner. Diana continue to rest in peace. Rest well. Who will take Diana’s place and carry out her legacy?
